The Non-Conformist
Culture and society creates gender roles and we are expected to live within that prescribed role depending on our specific gender. I remembered when I was a young kid living with my paternal grandmother in Nigeria. Whenever she was cooking she would make me sit and watch, while the boys were running around playing. "You will never find a husband if you can't cook," she would say and I used to believe it. If I only knew what I know now I would have allowed myself to run around with boys and be a kid.
